The Racism and Antisemitism Officer's role

The Racism and Antisemitism Officer's responsibilities include:

  • Recording incidents of racism and antisemitism across the university
  • Championing the fight against all forms of racism and antisemitism at the university
  • Contributing to responses to surveys from the Ministry for Higher Education and Research and from the National Observatory on Discrimination and Equality in Higher Education (Observatoire national des discriminations et de l'égalité dans le supérieur – ONDES)
  • Representing the university at events and working with authorities and designated contacts involved in tackling racism and antisemitism
  • Sharing any information about threats or acts of violence with the university’s Security and Defence Officer

The Racism and Antisemitism Officer also contributes to the university’s system for reporting discrimination and acts or statements of racism or antisemitism. This includes:

  • Receiving and handling reports of racist or antisemitic acts or remarks at the university
  • Analysing the facts, at the request of the disciplinary section of the Academic Council, to support the examination of reported acts or statements
  • Helping set up mediation to resolve conflicts

The reporting system is open to all members of the university community.
